National Fuel, National Grid and NYSEG all offer incentive programs designed to help make the cost of upgrading outdated equipment easier to manage while also helping to reduce the load to our power grid and natural gas pipelines. Newer, more energy efficient equipment helps both the customer and the utility company save!
Rebates Available As Of March 2025
National Fuel Rebates
All eligible measures must be installed by a licensed contractor, or a contractor that can supply you with either a Federal ID number, or a Certificate of insurance, or a Business Certificate. The only exception to this is an ENERGY STAR®-labeled gas clothes dryer installation.
In order for a rebate application to be considered complete and processed, the following information must be supplied for furnaces, boilers, water heaters and Wi-Fi thermostats:
1. Paid invoice or receipt(s) indicating the retailer/contractor name, business address, phone and one of the following: Federal ID (tax) number, Certificate of Insurance or Business Certificate.
2. Manufacturer and complete model number of the equipment installed.
3. AFUE (efficiency) rating for natural gas furnace or boiler.
4. Product installation date.
NOTE: Rebates are available for existing single-family homes, multi-family homes, condominiums, mobile homes and new builds.
National Grid Rebates & Incentives
Electric Heating & Cooling Heat Pumps
Heat pump equipment incentives are only available to National Grid electric service customers.
Heat pump equipment incentives are capped at 50% of the project costs, including equipment and installer fees.
Electric Heat Pump Water Heaters
After installing your new heat pump water heater, simply complete the online application to get a $1000 rebate or up to 50% of the equipment cost. (Application available on National Grid's Website)
Gas Heating & Water Heating
This program is available for installations completed between 1/1/2025 and 10/31/2025. Applications must be submitted online
within 60 days of equipment installation and no later than 10/31/2025. Issuance of rebates for completed applications is contingent upon program availability. Rebates may not exceed the installed cost of equipment and will be capped at the project cost if applicable.

Qualified equipment must be connected to a National Grid gas meter and be on firm residential gas heating rate (SC1/SC2). National Grid high-efficiency equipment rebates are available for both existing gas heating and oil to gas conversion customers.
NYSEG Rebates & Incentives
Heat pump equipment incentives are only available to National Grid electric service customers.
Heat pump equipment incentives are capped at 50% of the project costs, including equipment and installer fees.
NYS Clean Heat Rebate Program

Incentives are available to NYSEG/RG&E electric customers or combination natural gas and electric customers (natural gas only customers are not eligible), who replace their existing furnace, boiler or water heater with eligible heat pump equipment.
Full load heat pump projects replacing existing full load heat pump systems will not be eligible for incentives. Ground source heat pumps replacing existing ground source heat pump systems will also not be eligible for incentives. However, air source heat pumps replaced by ground source heat pumps will qualify for incentives.
Purchase a heat pump water heater and save $700 by purchasing qualifying equipment.
Not all incentives or rebates are available to all customers or in all installations.
